Why The Monarch Feels Broken

Everything I say is the truth. I hear you say in many interviews that everything you say is the truth to go. You say is truth or where you want to be standard? Let me talk to the people outside. All they want is to go peaceful, or you're starting one time. Because when I see um I said I only say and watch the calypso monarch, you watch it.

Nah, I didn't have you sent to. So you're not talking monarch this year? Nah, it all I know what I heard after, and it was the worst thing ever happened. And it's it's the worst future for the Kaiso. I couldn't watch it then and I convinced after I heard about the Dimashka that is the worst thing happening for Kaiso. You know, I can turn off the boy Mike in the savannah. Oh, so you feel a little mic because of a single man? Yeah, it can't be so coincidental. Now you see the the boy on commentary, and that's how Kaiso was born on the plantation. The president said he doesn't like Kaiprin. He does like commentary kaisu. He's mad, he's blacker than me. He's blacker than me, Mike here. And he said he does like commentary kaiso. Yeah. Now the boy who defended the crime now that's Elon Francis. Uh healing Francis. He on commentary. But God makes it so where he had to face the judges. And he didn't sing a song for them. So they're expecting licks as they got. So they don't tell me I say so. I believe so. Yeah. It turned off the boy mic. They turned me off, it turned off my mic, you know, completely. Some years ago.

Mic Control And Finals Frustration

So you're all the competition. Yeah. Yeah, they turn off. They turn off my mic. Yeah. Or in literature enough your mic? I don't.

I'm so you're not going back? I can't. What are you going back for? To cry? I know what I put out in. Last time I went in the same final in quarter cra in skin of park. Not skin of park, I was in quaraker. Uh-huh. I win people's choice for the fifth or sixth time. And then make the final. And then make the final. That's just mad people action. And the picking us is like young girls and pants. No, that is that how you could tell me. I I I win people shows I mash up the whole place. I think second to last. No coco. Lame shame.

But you see, you're talking about that, right? In terms of getting to the semis and not make any final. I was in the tent. Me and David was in the tent this year, and I see some calypsos. Well, to be honest with you, I tell myself they're bung to make it. You see, they they mashabikaisu. So you think that they stop people from singing social commentary as a whole to go to the finals?

No, yes, the it's not that they stop people, it's that they control the mashabi kaisu from since they have is that they're judging themselves. They had it, they had two co, but they have two co-affiliated tents zone tent and each tent must get a five-six pick. So even though I might tent as it happened before, as happened regularly, even with my tent are five, six able people, you're not going to get five, six because easy to get something, and so and so is that. So yeah. So so the Kaiso, the Kaiso mash up, so the people flocking Skinner Park are not going to get the best Kaiso for any season because it's a friend and family there to pick.

But the criticism of Skinner Park, people say Skinner Park is PM party group number 30, something, whichever one David belonged to.

So singing against Kaiso and Cop. Kaiso have when you lace Kaiso in the park, it's a lot of people ball and dust flying. And I said, if you're good, you're good. It's not yellow and red and nothing down there. It's a cook cool. And if I lace after God, then I never had a blemish in the PM was always always in power.

Yeah, I suppose, I suppose. So even when they're or even when they're in the opposition, like like now. Beat him up.

Yeah. But the Kai clamp down on the Kaiser now. No, they tell you the man talk in the president against the king talk personal and say he don't like commentary Kaiso. Kaiso did because Kaiso was born that way. Kaiso was born saying something against oppression, against I hope on the plantation. He's saying that and it showed up on the turn of the boy mic. I am of the honest opinion and the turn of the boy mic. Because they didn't know he's coming with. But they are human. So before he goes, and they're so weak. How are we going to take a critic?

Healthy critic. Well, you know what I find too, to be honest, as a man who likes Kaiso and listen to plenty of kaiso over the years, is one of the most gentle criticisms. If it was me, right? I would have been so glad he's the one criticizing me because he do it so nice and smooth. Is you out of freedom?

And I don't know that would have been. And they were all they're doing is to care the kaisu dung uh with due respect. Dung a nice girlish girlish thing dung day. That's what they do with the Kaiser King Dung Day.

Calypso Born From Rebellion

Well, I guess Kaiso born out of singing against that when you think about it, Kaiso born out of rebellion. So when I went down anytime, I was glad I hear plenty of youths now singing out a rebellion. Chucky is one that comes into mind, right? I try not to name names. So when I hear Chucky, I saw Chucky after he performed. And I say, well, alright, they can't stop you. I tell myself it's between him and Terry Lyons for him not to make the semis at all was a shocker to me. Will you will you tell youths now who in Kaiso?

You see, why I tell you that it wasn't. I mean, there's always no, he's always believed that I hope and they right. Um the reason why I say woman pray is that right now, no, no, no. If the president knows who they're trying to get rid of, say he doesn't like comment you guys, and the other one vine for his place, and he as far as he and his friends are concerned, they're yellow. Then what will happen to Kaiser? The yellow. I say so. All right, I am saying so emphatically.

For those who know what we're talking about, for Kurt Allen to go there and win, which I think I I I feel he's gonna win. I never had the honor of talking to Ainsley King, yeah, so disclaimer. But I spoke with Kurt before here, and his take as the badge on Kaiso or Calypso is that he's attacking any side. Same thing I hear you say. That's what you said, right? Yeah, Calypso, you have enough Calypsos to he could prove that. He sings against both sides, right? House thinging and all them things is a different story. But I don't feel I've begun to see a Kurt Allen run too. Where we see things that happen this year happening.

It's like it's like Brazil playing C justina football game. I ain't going nowhere with that dotishness. Okay, I mean they are too far gone. I relaxing actually. Right, yeah. Because I ain't taking all the worries at them and they're safe and it corrupted happens, yeah.

Youth Protest And Missing Voices

Corie

Yeah. But it's a time where I feel like we need our voice. Like, I like I'm watching youths now, right? The real youths now, they're complaining, they're protesting, they're saying that um this police killing us in them taking to the streets and the police responding, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Which young people would do, right? And I see the passion and the pain in Nagel eyes, right? When she when she protested. Wherever the police respond to is a different story. But I wonder how much people like young people now missing voices like yours. Because it don't take they're missing nothing.

Yeah, I know. They don't even know. Well, I suppose they don't know what they're missing. So I ask I I just be sometimes in areas and they say, Who is that?

Uh-huh. They may know. All right, well, let me fix some of that today. Because the thing about it is that social commentary and political commentary is important to me as not just a fan of the past.

That is how Kaiser was born to say something about oppression, about the wrong thing. Even this little girl who got killed, same protesting there. I am sitting that Kaiser Nago should come out or will come out this year and get your opinion genuine thing to meet a shake. You understand? But they do listen.

But the thing about it is if you say in the heyday of let us say '96, for instance, you're going against everybody. I think you win in 88 to 88, it's everybody. Be bung to hear not just the finals night, but in the tent, you would hear five, six, seven, eight songs about whatever is the biggest story going on in the country for the time. So I was born. Right. But so much about it.

But when the when the when the the the president says don't like social comment, you what do you want people to do? Everybody wants to go in, everybody wanna go in the semifinal, everybody goes on. So they're gonna make team songs.

But the president says he does affect who go in the semi-final and who in the final.

The Story Behind Early Wins

about your first winner. Well, not independence, but your first monarch when 88, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's a story.

So the story behind that is thank God for it. But I just I won independence commission. August the year before, right? So I won $15,000. But they said, so I want me to keep the crowd. They come back to my idea wasn't home. I said they have any commission. Next year. I just write two bad songs to come in chance. So I explained that to me that uh by the prices. 10,000 comments. And they want two songs this year because was one new song and I saw your choice. But I want 50,000. I say, again, I kinda fight like this. Why should I defend what I didn't win? Why should I give them more material? Two new songs. For less money. I tell them, no, I ain't coming in the commission. I can't even defend it. Watch your man went anyway. I kick my two songs because I sing them songs as winning songs. And bam! I just ask me. Because because I know them. I can take them two songs. And try to go and win the independence commission for less 10,000 years. And and then who knows they might they might give me a win. Yeah, yeah, I don't know. You don't know, you don't know. And the songs might not land when they land might be.

I see it going viral just the other day. I see, I don't know, I don't know. You you notice that on YouTube? Everybody watching people like that. I don't know if young people now hear any song for the first time. But get them peace now. Let me see if you'll find it.
